Education
I graduated from the University of Sussex in the summer of 2005 and achieved a 2:1 in Computer Science. Over the course of my degree I studied a wide range of languages, such as Ada, Haskell, Java, PHP and SQL.
Employment

I worked for several years at Brandwatch, formerly known as Runtime Collective. Some of my time was spent creating and maintaining themes for Redhat’s APLAWS content management system (CMS), which is primarily used by councils and local authorities to power their websites. The work required an extensive knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and XSLT.
The rest of my time was spent developing the frontend for Brandwatch, a web service that tracks what people are saying about brands online. In addition to the skills honed on APLAWS this required a good knowledge of Flash and ActionScript in order to maintain and expand an existing codebase. The widgets developed help users to visualise data in the form of bar charts and line graphs.
Other technologies I have worked with include JavaScript libraries such as jQuery and the Yahoo! User Interface Library. I have also written web tests using Selenium.
Leisure
Programming
I spend some of my spare time working on personal projects to further my skills. I developed Fingerjig, a typing game which uses a combination of Flash, ActionScript 2.0, PHP, MySQL and a dash of Python. Fingerjig is also available as a Facebook app that I developed using the Facebook Platform. This streamlined version of Fingerjig allows Facebook users to track their scores and then compare them with their friends.
My own website is powered by WordPress and uses a bespoke theme that I have designed and implemented.
